Chopta – Tungnath – Chandrashila, Uttarakhand
Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek
Known as the "Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand", Chopta is a scenic hill station and base
for the trek to Tungnath Temple (the world’s highest Shiva temple at 3,680 m) and
Chandrashila Peak (4,000 m). This trek offers a perfect mix of spiritual experience and
adventure with breathtaking views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, and Kedarnath peaks.
The trail passes through dense forests of rhododendron and deodar, lush meadows, and snow-clad paths in
winter. It is a short & easy trek (5 km to Tungnath, 1.5 km more to Chandrashila), ideal
for beginners and families.
Duration: 3 Days • Best Time: March–June & September–December •
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate.

Tour Plan
Pickup from Haridwar/Rishikesh. Drive through Rudraprayag, Ukhimath to reach Chopta (approx. 8–9 hrs).
Evening at leisure, acclimatization, and overnight stay in camps.
Begin the trek from Chopta. Visit Tungnath Temple (3.5 km trek) and then climb further
1.5 km to Chandrashila Peak. Enjoy 360° Himalayan views. Descend back to Chopta.
Overnight stay in tents.
After breakfast, drive back to Haridwar/Rishikesh with unforgettable memories of the Chopta–Tungnath–Chandrashila trek.
